The President of the Federal Republic of Germany (Portuguese: O Presidente da República Federal da Alemanha) Christian Wulff and his wife, Bettina Wulff, Portugal this week paid an official two-day state visit. On 10
and 11 February, the Federal President and his wife, at the invitation of the Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva, for the first time in Portugal.
Christian Wulff's visit to reaffirm the bilateral political and cultural relations between the two nations, Germany and Portugal.
began the official part of the visit on Thursday afternoon with a working visit between Christian Wulff and his Portuguese counterpart, at the residence of President Cavaco Silva, in the Palácio de Belém.
After this working visit Cavaco Silva and his wife gave a banquet in honor of the German state guests.
Yesterday, on 11 February, Cavaco Silva visited the Volkswagen plant and Wulff Auto Europe ", in Palmela, south of Lisbon.
Auto Europe is the largest German investment in the country and is generally considered an example of successful investments in Portugal.
After the visit to "Auto Europa" Christian Wulff arrived in the Portuguese Parliament with the President of the House, Jaime Gama, together and in the residence of the Prime Minister met the President and Portuguese Prime Minister José Sócrates to a one-hour exchange of views.
Thereafter, Christian Wulff and his delegation with full military honors adopted and went back aboard a fighter plane to Germany.
What impressions they take to Germany is not known (but still only good I hope!).
